Let's keep a running list of some of the best SmugMug Pro Sales Tips. Got some? Saw one that was really good? Add it to the wiki!

  • Have a prominent "contact me" button on your website. If you don't use a separate "contact" page, no problem. At the very least, feature your email address in your bio section on your homepage. Make sure your customers can reach you! If you have a business phone number, use it.
  • It's good to have an "about me" page, or an info page, with your credentials. This can be as simple as a journal-style gallery, with a photo of you in it, and use the caption area to describe you, your work, your services, and more. Want to get fancy? No problem. Dgrin's customization forum, to the rescue.
  • List references on your site. Make it easy for customers to trust you.
  • Don't choose a long, hard to type nickname.  Make it easy to say, and type, and remember.
  • Make it easy to see your services, pricing, packages, and more. Here's great example from Smugger Tony Schreiber. Another, with FAQ, from Worldview Images.
  • Make it easy for your buyers to find the good stuff!
  • Be sure to change your site name (title) in your control panel. This will show in the very top of the web browser window. Want to get fancy? Details here.
  • Feature the ">SmugMug Guarantee prominently. Don't forget, you can also link to shipping and help pages, too!
  • Before an event, create a gallery for that event. Print out flyers, cards, or handouts, with the direct link to the gallery. Make it easy for your customers to buy!
  • Speaking of making it easy to buy - see how Smugger Miles Boyer does it!
  • Event shooters - give them a little "amuse bouche," you'll increase your sales! Here's a great example.
  • Use keywords to enable your buyers to find the photos fast and easy. Smugger Pat Kane shows us howEven use filenames as keywords.
